Graduate Work

Thesis Work

By using unstable materials, these castings are reflections of their originals, but also exist as tangible representations of passing time. The use of volatile, non-traditional casting media reflects the impermanence of life, a concept that I both struggle to think about and accept. With casting materials in their most basic form, such as salt, sugar, lard, and iron, I challenge perceptions of strength and fragility, vulnerability, and ephemerality.
